1. First step is to document the process in detail to understand it perfectly. Make a bullet point list of the steps and decisions that the SME makes during the process.
2. Second step is to sketch out the automated process. Automation usually involves tweaking the original process to produce the same results with a robot.
3. Third step is to split the process into smaller parts. It is also a good idea to automate just one section of the process and check with the SME if the results are as expected.
4. Fourth step is to identify challenges and find workarounds for them.
5. Final step is to test and compare the results with the work of a SME and improve the process further.
