Ways to convince Your Boss Ways to Save

Robotic process automation (RPA) technology is the next frontier for businesses looking to streamline processes, increase productivity and ultimately improve the bottom-line.

RPA typically uses artificial intelligence to handle repetitive, rules-based, back-office tasks. And the market is about to experience a period of "explosive" growth.

The RPA market grew 64 percent to $200 million last year and is expected to grow 70 to 90 percent by 2018 because successful pilot projects are inspiring buyer confidence in the technology, the consulting and research firm reports.

However, there are some barriers to adoption, such as IT departments concerned about data security and loss of control. Plus, replacing staff with robots in some sectors, such as government, could become a political minefield.

Join us at RPA Summit in May to hear from subject matter experts currently evaluating RPA for their businesses in areas such as Finance, Procurement, HR, Outsourcing, Automation, etc.

Many technology leaders, such as Google's Eric Schmidt and Tesla Elon Musk, warn of a full automated machinery run under pure artificial intelligence. This spontaneous path-finding and planning algorithm always positions individual task on top priority over co-operation. So, a pure robotics approach is being considered as “hostile". Concurrently, the development of Internet of things are so pervasive to make cheap, configure and printable devices. Clustering is a standard feature in IoT devices. therefore, co-operation and collaboration are two human elements to be integrated back to pure machine intelligence. This conceptual presentation attempts to explore the cognitive integration into human process in order to achieve enormous performance.

The speech will contain "Zero" marketing and theory, it will be only based on facts and figures derived from practical RPA experience and real RPA use cases (APAC, Europe, US). We would be talking about technical and organizational pitfalls that any RPA team could face with while deploying RPA on large-scale. We would be sharing our practical experience on how to power RPA with Machine Learning to bring RPA to next level of intelligent automation as well as we would be sharing insights on what is possible to achieve with RPA if deployment planned properly and strategically.

The key topics we would walk you through:
  • RPA use cases figures & facts
  • Organizational and technical pitfalls in RPA projects
  • RPA Myths

Topic Abstract

The presence of robots in our everyday activities is inevitable in the near future and this should not be met with skepticism but instead, with a practical outlook on how we can best interact with them. From homes to workplaces and cities, we are attempting to make our lives to be more productive, more efficient and so-called "Smarter". The building block of this "Smart" journey lies on how we will educate the next generation of our human workforce to interact and collaborate with robots. The first wave of modernization in human-machine interaction took us from punch cards to keyboards and mouse. The second wave took us to touchscreens and smart devices. This talk will explore the next generation learning and how to prepare and educate ourselves and our next generation for the time, when human-robot interaction (HRI) becomes an essential part of our day to day lives.

While RPA can improve the economics and service level of manual operations, research reflects that 30 - 50% of initial RPA projects fail. This is not a reflection of the technology; there are myriads of documented successful RPA deployments. Despite extensive public cataloging of "what works and doesn't work in RPA", implementation mistakes persist and often prevent organizations from delivering on the promise of RPA. One common, key issue in failed RPA implementations is the application of traditional and/or over-engineered software delivery methods. This workshop will demonstrate how two agile frameworks - lean and scrum - can be applied to improve RPA project outcomes. Real life examples are provided as case studies.
